  • On the day of victory over fascism in 1945, May 9 near the monument to gather nearly 200 thousand people. Older people, their children and grandchildren will carry portraits of those who won this victory for posterity the difficult four years. But come to the monument and to this wonderful park all year round. Spring Sakura blossoms there (this is the only place in Latvia), cool in summer, fall perfectly, and in winter you can go skiing. This is a special place. Because you realize that about your peaceful rest is taken care of your fathers and grandfathers. Victory Park is very conveniently located. 15 minutes on foot from the Riga City Hall, five minutes from the National Library and of any point can be reached by tram.

  • Yes this place is located on the other side of Riga, but it's also the other side of Riga's Soviet past. Oddly enough it's fitting that it's that way.
  • The spacious park is not very well maintained, but has long promenades. The victory monument consists of excitement in the sky columns with each the Soviet star on the top. The pillars are flanked by a group of soldiers and face of an Angel; both in the typical Soviet classicism.
