Vermanes Garden, Riga

4.6
#4 of 12 in Parks in Riga
The oldest public garden in town, Vermanes Garden features large grassy areas, fountains, and playgrounds. When it opened in 1817, the site featured exotic trees and a restaurant. Today the 5 hectare (12 acre) park is home to new cafes and restaurants in a verdant setting where locals gather to play chess and enjoy a bit of nature. You can tour the park by kayak along the small river that flows by. A number of free events occur here during the year. • This is a beautiful park with water. Many Woods and nicely planted flowers. Scene at one end, where it held concerts.

  • A piece outside the historic old town of Riga Vermanes garden is located between the University and the Esplanade. From the freedom monument from one is walking in less than three minutes here. Vērmanes Garden was inaugurated as the first public park in the city in 1817 and presented among other exotic trees and a rose garden as features. A walk through the nature, we have enjoyed the winter rest in the almost deserted Park. On our way we found numerous monuments and fountains, we like to have looked at us. Conclusion: Even in the winter that is worth seeing.

  • I don't know about during summer, but this park is stunning after snowfall. There's not a huge amount here, but they're l there is a good amount of places to sit, nice trees and a restaurant. Being located in the city, it's also close by to a multitude of kiosks, restaurants and cafés, should you need refreshment.
  • Nice Park, pretty often have something going on here in summer for example beerfest like last summer it was amazing so many beers and good ones, but that's not the only thing that happens here 😁 but it was one of best things so far.
  • It is a beautiful place, where a lot of outside activities are done during the summer season. It has a concert stage where on A every day basis you will find chess players, there is a playground for kids just the toilets are gross
  • Nice place.on Independence weekend they have several interesting light displays that are worth visiting. in summer its a nice get away.
  • Nice park with roses in the summer, playground for kids, a little open air stage where old men play chess when there are no concerts.

Where to stay in Riga

As tourism surges in Riga, accommodation options and variety have grown too. The Baltic capital has quality lodging for every budget, from centrally located and affordable hostels, to private apartments and hotel rooms, to chic main-street hotels. The Old Town, a World Heritage Site, sits at the center of it all, so consider staying here if you want to be in the thick of things. For lower prices, look slightly outside of the city's core but within walking distance. For somewhere a little quieter, check out neighborhoods like Agenskalns and Tornakalns, which are less touristy, well-preserved districts.
