St. Mary's Dome Cathedral, Riga

(3.6/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
At St. Mary's Dome Cathedral, see the famous Dome organ--the largest organ in the world at the time of its construction in the late 19th century. Bishop Albert of Riga built the church in the 13th century as archbishop's seat. The rooster on the top of the Baroque clock tower is a guardian of the Christian faith. The largest medieval church in the Baltic states, its appearance has changed many times. Walk around the cloisters to see the original foundations. The church also serves as a concert hall and showcases internationally renowned choirs. • The Cathedral of Riga. Try in a while because it is seen from the outside is impressive, but a long-awaited. Requires just 3 euro. You can go out in the garden of the Cathedral. Artillery in the corridor were used on the old Weathercock also exhibit (stand? ), Might enjoy if you like history. Is sitting a little too shameful to clean of altars in the Cathedral and stained-glass Windows. Organ characteristic of the concert is open on a regular basis.

  • Remembered the tumbling cloister, and the necessarily in this necessarily austere Protestant cathedral but the grandiose organ illuminates a magical place struck by art nouveau in a nice contrast that defines well the wise Riga

  • The Cathedral is historically important for Riga. Construction started in the 13th century by Bishop Albert, who is listed as the founder of Riga. Beautiful interior with special attention to the organ. Gorgeous! Highly recommended is also the cloisters with a lot of special excavations and finds, including the original cock of the tower. A must!
