4.1
#2 of 9 in Parks in Riga
Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Take the opportunity to see rare species of eagles, owls, and falcons at Riga Zoo, which accommodates about 4,000 animals of nearly 500 species in a forested area on the lakeshore. Walk through the reptile tunnel, or visit the nocturnal room. Watch the ant colony cutting up and transporting leaves across the water to their nests. Children especially will enjoy the chance to pet sheep and goats. Amenities include a cafe, a small park area, and a playground with swings and a climbing gym. Become an honorary guardian of an animal by making a donation to the zoo. Use our Riga trip itinerary maker to arrange your visit to Riga Zoo and other attractions in Riga.

  • I'm certainly not often in zoos, but my one-year-old son was ecstatic when I saw hippos. This is a very cool and beautiful zoo, all animals groomed and happy. Children will be happy.

  • Unlike zoos in Moscow, Berlin and other cities, Riga Zoo almost outside of town, near the Lake and forest. You can spend the whole day and not feel fatigue. There are playgrounds, cafes, recreational areas. In time, you can observe the animal feeding.

  • The Zoo was walking in the Park, even forget that you are in the capital))). Adult ticket is worth 6 euros. Its own small parking lot-5 euro (1:00 pm to Sunday, when we left, there were no seats). At the checkout, you can take the card where indicated time feeding. Not many large animals: the lion gave themselves admire 2 Hippo barely sticking out of the water Tiger slept very far-almost not see wonderful giraffes still have llamas, camels, crocodiles, monkeys are mainly small. Elephants, bears no. There is a tropical area with insects, snakes and other animals.

  • Great Zoo! Animals are living in good home, it's a big-big park. Lemurs are so cute, the house of giraffes is new and so interesting to visit it! This Zoo is amazing place to have time with kids or without them)
  • It was cool, it a a dancing bear, but its sad, it was born in the Riga circus and was unwanted, but,, everything else was cool!i ate an ice scream and a hotdog. It was good you should come!
  • This zoo seems to be doing good with the limited resources they have. What makes them special is the extra effort they go to that costs them nothing. Such as the fire during January to enable families to have a BBQ. We just took marshmallows and had fun with them. An excellent day out with kids and there are three good places to warm up as you walk around during the winter cold - Giraffe building, Tropical building and the lovely Cafe building near the entrance. Tram 11 gets you there in relaxed fashion.
  • Good place for a road trip break, if you have a kid or kids. Park playground is free.
  • A nice family friendly place, and a place to see a bunch of exotic animals. Looks decent, doesn't seem to treat animals badly. The tropical house is great! Would want to see more of that!

Where to stay in Riga

As tourism surges in Riga, accommodation options and variety have grown too. The Baltic capital has quality lodging for every budget, from centrally located and affordable hostels, to private apartments and hotel rooms, to chic main-street hotels. The Old Town, a World Heritage Site, sits at the center of it all, so consider staying here if you want to be in the thick of things. For lower prices, look slightly outside of the city's core but within walking distance. For somewhere a little quieter, check out neighborhoods like Agenskalns and Tornakalns, which are less touristy, well-preserved districts.
