  • again not a museum by uk standards and the york train museum it ois not - but if you like trains it is easy to get to and not expensive - get some good photos here but not a lot of what there is
  • We got to walk across the bridge from the old town, is approximately 10-15 minutes. The Museum consists of internal and outdoor exposure. We started from the inside. The Museum has two halls. When you log on to the Rails stand several generations of railcars that resembles Perron. One of the rooms has gathered model railway, some will remember childhood and Pico. For 0.6 euro it might trigger. Here you can buy kits and toy train of the same manufacturer. Also in the Hall there is a small train, suitcases and various exhibits. In Russian only what was used during the times of Russian Empire and USSR. Another Hall is dedicated to the work and rest railway workers. In miniature layouts with humor showing scenes from the life and work of the people. In Russian there is no audio. Outdoor exhibit is wonderful in the winter, although it is possible to visit only the cab of the locomotive, the remaining cars are closed. The Museum was pleasant to us, though we didn't get this theme. 2.5 ticket price.

  • To all who will be in Riga with kids I advise to visit the Latvian Railway History Museum. But why only children, I think that all will be interesting. At the entrance to the Museum you can see a selection of suitcases used by travellers of the last century. Several rooms in the Museum and open-air museum, nastojashie, trolley locomotives and other railway vehicles. I think that you and your children will get a big kick out of visiting the Museum.
