Where to stay in Riga

As tourism surges in Riga, accommodation options and variety have grown too. The Baltic capital has quality lodging for every budget, from centrally located and affordable hostels, to private apartments and hotel rooms, to chic main-street hotels. The Old Town, a World Heritage Site, sits at the center of it all, so consider staying here if you want to be in the thick of things. For lower prices, look slightly outside of the city's core but within walking distance. For somewhere a little quieter, check out neighborhoods like Agenskalns and Tornakalns, which are less touristy, well-preserved districts.

  • The museum was a bit if a bummer. The exhibits dirty and old, the staff rude and not speaking any English. They would not accept my electronic student card, despite other museums accepting it with no ...  more »
  • I really enjoyed this museum, it is quite a unique collection. It's larger than I expected, with a lot of great historical stuff including the first dog astronaut, that is after taxidermy, an old x-ra...  more »
  • My favourite museum in Riga. Very interesting exhibitions. There could've been more information in English. A must-see on your stay in Riga!  more »

  • It's ok done. I found it a good waste of 30 mins. The hooman who we bought the tickets from did not tell us about the special extra exhibit that needed another ticket, so went downstairs and some Latvian woman asked for our "bilet", and then we showed her our ticket and she was like "no". Oh well.
  • We were a little disappointed by the museum! You feel like traveling back in time to Sowjet Riga in the 1970. Pretty weird stuff... Also only about 1/3 of the signs is in english. At least it's cheap.
  • Huge collection of items .. Nice display of historical equipments and narrates the history of many great Doctors and Scientists .
  • Great place to learn and maybe get grosed out a bit :)
  • Quirky and not everything is translated into English but some great exhibits.
