  • The museum is located in a nice old building of the beginning of 20th century (I guess) which was nicely renovated a few years ago. It gives a very good idea how latvian painting tradition developed i...  more »

  • Beautifully made repairs with many modern innovations. BUT, after reconstruction, the Museum was not a Museum, where exhibits the NATIONAL HERITAGE of the Republic of Latvia, and posted pictures of the artists only one NATIONALITY. From "aliens" got only Belcova, with four blades. Removed in storerooms, KUINDZHI, BOGDANOV-BELSKY, PEROVA, KRAMSKOY, IVAN SHISHKIN, MAKOVSKIY, vinogradova ... and so on, many of whom lived worked and loved precisely for Latvia. In General, rather, it is a good local art gallery, but not Museum, where a rich Latvian, "multinational" National painting.

  • Impressive building that is home to a great collection of Latvian art from back in the day to contemporary. Mostly paintings, a few sculptures and photographs. Time flies wandering the exhibition, make sure you bring plenty :) There's also small gift shop with books and stuff.
  • Well laid out and very interesting for bringing together history, politics and culture. Good information points and cards
  • Good selection of art. Art lovers will defenetly enjoy. And even if you are not you still gonna like it.
  • A wonderful monument to art, that will inspire awe even in those who usually don't care about art. The building it self is beautifully renovated
  • Beautiful museum! Worth visit for sure! Audioguide sucks though!
