  • We just chose to spend the day of August also thanks to a beautiful Sun. .. We reached in half an hour by bus No 1 from Merkela iela, a few steps from our hotel. very few people I can say I had a wood just for us ... beautiful stroll along the pathways lined with birches and enter into all the houses. The cost is 4 euro per persona....la map there and in all languages except Italian ... okay ... we admire ... ... very clear, however, easy to follow given the consecutive numbering of every interesting place to see. We had lunch in a small room inside and are not immediately at the entrance ... I mean, considering the crowding everywhere in our country on this day (in Riga is not celebrated) spend it in this way, it was like living a fairy tale.

  • From the hotel to the Museum is the easiest to take a taxi, it is also not expensive. Calculate that you need 3-4 hours if not longer then it really is a lot to see and experience. Where there are humans who sit outside or in contact and ask! They are nice and informative. You get at the entrance a map of the area, and selecting paths are well marked. Use the time and enjoy buildings, manicured gardens and animals and birds that are in the forest. Good roads and trails in some places there are stairs. Essentially, the site accessible for wheelchairs. On the site there is the possibility of refreshment and simple food. At the entrance there is a returant with good food. The place is so good that it is advices visited.

  • The Museum opened in Turaida, Latvia is a must-see place, lush vegetation with a special colorful, authentic Latvian sculptures in stone, at the top there is a castle with wonderful views. Both the open Turaida Museum and the cave, are located in the Gauja National Park, the largest and most beautiful in Latvia with more than 900 km of abundant and varied vegetation. Recommended!

  • Lovely Experience. Me and my partner spent a few hours here looking at the old homes they use to have. Very interesting place, easy to get to (just pop on a bus) and cheap entrance. Great views near the bridge.
  • A very interesting museum on open air. Old houses and farms from all over the Latvian country, transported and reassembled here in a beautiful environment. A must visit!
  • Beautiful place to visit and get out of town. Ticket office should consider printing maps of the area cos signage is really poor, and even with the app we downloaded, we were having trouble getting around. The only toilets we found were in the tavern after the entrance, so if you are in the middle of the museum grounds, you gotta hold it until you are on your way out. Also lacks thrash bins for the most part of the territory. However, these small nuisances do not take away from the experience.
  • A wonderful place out of town. Lots of beautiful woods and different kinds of mushrooms. An afternoon well spent.
  • Not much changed since 10 years ago. Lacks entertainment for children so only tourists visit. What a shame and waste of really interesting and authentic place. Suggestion would be to look at Tervetes dabas parks, where people visit every year, because of new things changing each year. Suggestions: children playground, cycles for rent, better signage and pavement and more open houses. As much as adults like history this is not fit for 21st century, especially for youngsters...

Where to stay in Riga

As tourism surges in Riga, accommodation options and variety have grown too. The Baltic capital has quality lodging for every budget, from centrally located and affordable hostels, to private apartments and hotel rooms, to chic main-street hotels. The Old Town, a World Heritage Site, sits at the center of it all, so consider staying here if you want to be in the thick of things. For lower prices, look slightly outside of the city's core but within walking distance. For somewhere a little quieter, check out neighborhoods like Agenskalns and Tornakalns, which are less touristy, well-preserved districts.
