  • Riga will find more than surprise you! This Kipsala. Kipsala is the Island District of Riga. It is not difficult-we just have to go cable-stayed bridge from the old town, it is 15-20 minutes. The island itself, there are approximately 300 years old and is the tip of a huge sand dune, and therefore its shape changed all the time, depending on the behavior of the river. And only in the 20 century the island acquired its modern shape. Once fishermen settled here. Currently, Kipsala is interesting because there are fine examples of wooden architecture, which are carefully kept by residents. Even attempted some Aussie to break one of the houses and build something else, did not succeed. The House remained in place, and from Australian-kangaroo on the roof. Walks on Kipsala deliver pleasure. Contemplation of the houses, the atmosphere of peace and quiet and great views will not leave you indifferent. A former plaster factory restaurant is located, and the factory turned into loft apartments.
