(5/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
As you walk around Riga, be sure to observe JJugenda Stila Nami, Riga, the predominant architectural style of over one-third of the buildings in the city's central district. This movement celebrated artistic freedom and dramatic elements. Accompanying the economic boom of Latvia in the late 19th century, the flamboyant style also appeared in great European cities like Paris, Barcelona, and Moscow. Very quickly it came to dominate Riga, shaping hundreds of its buildings--800 of which can be viewed today. Stroll the streets of the capital and admire the Art Nouveau blend of elements, such as gargoyles and dragons, combined with floral lines and profoundly geometric shapes. Plan your JJugenda Stila Nami, Riga visit and explore what else you can see and do in Riga using our Riga vacation builder.

  • In Riga last time I was 30 years ago, and somehow absolutely does not remember her from this side. Indeed, magnificent buildings, most of the facades of the repaired and looks amazingly beautiful. I live in St. Petersburg and we also built entire streets houses in Art Nouveau style, it would seem to me this is familiar, but the buildings in Riga differ: apparently this "hand" of other talented architects.

  • Once upon a time, in Soviet times, especially when you visit Riga to see monuments of the middle ages. Many years have passed, poezdila the world, became a fan of the art nouveau style, admired the architecture of Barcelona and Vienna, but it had nothing to do with Riga was associated. In addition, the present middle ages in Riga very little, in that sense, this treasure trove is Tallinn, therefore, no desire to visit Riga. Imagine my amazement when I accidentally stumbled upon an article about Riga Art Nouveau. Ripe decided to go and see! And here it is, a real treasure of bourgeois city of Riga-a quarter of amazing beauty and richness of the houses, one more beautiful and more fanciful! I just experienced a culture shock! This stunning Art Nouveau designs I haven't seen anywhere else. In addition, homes in this style still and scattered around the city. All fans of this style strongly recommend charge cameras and sent to Riga on the hunt
