Alberta Iela, Riga
(4.7/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
Take your time at Alberta Iela, examining the variety of historical Art Nouveau buildings adorned with sculptural decorations, balconies, columns, and other elements characteristic of the period. The street bears the name of the legendary founder of Riga, the Bishop Albert. Each of the buildings is an inimitable 20th-century architectural gem. Stop in front of the No. 4 to explore its reliefs and sculptures depicting jellyfish heads, sun symbols, and winged lions. Visit the museum at the end of the street to see what one of Riga's residential interiors looked like at the beginning of the 20th century. Alberta Iela is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Riga Edition.

  • Art nouveau quarters, you definitely have to go this way and even in other adjacent where you will see palaces truly special and spectacular!! Try to walk with their heads facing up to see what's so great to see because it is so much and deserves many many pictures!!

  • A must go past, very grand House and it is unusual to see them so collected. Old town fade (at least for me) in comparison. It is a short pleasure, is only 100 meters max to go but well worth it.

  • This Art Nouveau street is praised for its excellence as a great example of its style. Unfortunately it was adorned with scaffolding and construction work. There are better streets nearby.

  • All the tourists are coming to see this beautiful street. It's awesome that people could make something so excellent.
  • The must go street for architecture fans. Even you're not into buildings, but the street provides an excellent samples of art nouveau design from the late 1800s until before the first world war. Look for the three medusa heads on #4. They're spooky.
  • Take your time to walk through this magnificent street. On both sides there are Art Nouveau buildings. Many were designed by Michail Osipovič Ėjzenštejn, father of Sergej, the filmmaker.
  • Stunning buildings all around this beautiful street that is the center of jugend quarter. A must visit while in Riga.
  • The most beautiful street in Riga.
