Venta Waterfall, Kuldiga

(4.4/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
In a fairytale setting surrounded by parks and villages, Venta Waterfall is the widest waterfall in Europe. Although a mere 2 m (6.6 ft) tall, the fall reaches widths of 270 m (886 ft) during rainy seasons. This official Natural Monument of Latvia is known not only for its idyllic beauty, but also for the phenomenon of jumping fish: at certain times of year fish like salmon and sturgeon swim upstream and surge over the waterfall by hurling themselves through the air. • We admired the gardens near the Church in the shadow seen on warm day. The height is relative, while the amplitude is remarkable and characteristic. There are several people that makes us the bathroom although to me this water so dark not attracted at all. Some people cross it walking on stones that overcome. I don't know if it's a route easily doable, but looked like fun

  • In fact, it is difficult to call. It's just a high threshold on the river. But the noise as "big". Around hills, beautiful houses.

  • Kuldīga is a time capsule. Is a historic city which can be put on a par with Belgian Club Brugge or German Celle. This Latvian Suzdal. Very strange that this place still underestimated by tourists from all over the world. Nice knowing Latvia and its attractions can argue that it is number one and Kuldīga points of interest. The waterfall itself, separate from the city, nothing is. Council-come summer, overnight. Walk through the streets of the city feel in the middle ages.
