Venta Waterfall, Kuldiga
(4.4/5 based on 150+ reviews on the web)
In a fairytale setting surrounded by parks and villages, Venta Waterfall is the widest waterfall in Europe. Although a mere 2 m (6.6 ft) tall, the fall reaches widths of 270 m (886 ft) during rainy seasons. This official Natural Monument of Latvia is known not only for its idyllic beauty, but also for the phenomenon of jumping fish: at certain times of year fish like salmon and sturgeon swim upstream and surge over the waterfall by hurling themselves through the air. • While the waterfall doesn't look that spectacular as the widest in Europe it's great fun crossing it on foot or swimming in the river beneath. The surroundings are quite nice as well.
  • Kuldīga-very interesting and beautiful city. One of the symbols of this city is the widest natural waterfall in Europe. If you go to him from the town square, you will see a wonderful park, another waterfall, beautiful arched bridge was built in 1874 and finally himself. To him we came to the bridge, but back to the waterfall itself risked. Later, we learned that rescuers who are on duty at the River does not permit to do it. Actually the path was difficult-slippery and sharp rocks, running water, in short, not everyone will cope. Will necessarily in Kuldiga, walk to the waterfall and back. The bridge:) More from the Town Hall square to the waterfall walks sightseeing train.
