(4.5/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Walk, row, sail, and water-ski at Jurmala Beach--a former favorite holiday resort of Soviet communist leaders and cosmonauts. Walk down the 33 km (21 mi) long, wheelchair-friendly beach covered with white quartz sand, and look for pieces of amber. Notice the old wooden villas designed in Art Nouveau style. You can rent water bicycles, or have a drink at the beach cafe. You also can find playgrounds, small benches, football fields, volleyball courts, kite-surfing and windsurfing stations, health resorts, and spa centers. The beach also hosts one of the largest water parks in northern Europe, offering more than 45 attractions. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Jurmala holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Jurmala Beach and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Jurmala is to reach train from Riga with it. The tourist goes only Majori, the actual Centre of Jurmala. Here is a pedestrian area with plenty of shops and cafés, which are open also in winter. Opposite the station is to find also the tourist information, the people there are the force absolutely helpful, friendly and competent. Simply follow the recommendation. The stroll is advisable before reaching the beach. We were there in December. Of course, it was not a bad weather, the Baltic Sea was a shaken and still people on the beach were. Walker, amber viewfinder, etc... To relax a dream.

  • The beach is incredibly long. the village is separated from the dunes. The sea is shallow and cold. This is a great place for a stroll. The sand is quite dense, white.

  • Baltic banks and beaches with its dark water. Peace and nature. In December, despite the beautiful day, it's cold because the area's breezy but worth a visit.
