  • Once enjoyed foreign grandeur and simplicity, we went inside; We were allowed to climb the tower and got a chance to enjoy the beautiful view of the town and Castle of Cēsis

  • Out of all churches I have seen, this one impressed me most. 13th century construction is massive and impressive. Church carries a lot of cultural and historical value since Livonian period. Once of t...  more »
  • If the castle is a Visual symbol of the town, the Church of St. John is his heart, spiritual symbol. First visited the Church in Soviet times, when military service was held. Interestingly, even if officers tacitly opposed visits by us soldiers-Church. Body really sounds so that you remember everything you know from the history of Western Christianity. Sculpture of the Cathedral Church appeared somewhere in the year 2006. Church and 40 years ago, and now is mainly remarkable for its natural identity. Yes, an external gloss there (it is necessary to inspect the Cathedral in Stockholm, for example, or in Helsinki!), and fragments of wood are becoming greyer, but bypassing the church building from the outside, really feel that the history of previous centuries and continues on this site.
