Rundale Palace Museum (Rundales Pils), Bauska
(4.7/5 based on 340+ reviews on the web)
Explore the history of Latvia's court through collections at Rundale Palace Museum (Rundales Pils). The palace was built in the 1730s as a summer residence for the Duke of Courland. A Berlin sculptor and several Italian painters created most of the interior decorations, including lavish stucco creations. You can visit the Duke's suite with reception parlors and private rooms, and see a fully restored suite of duchess' rooms. Walk through a maze of alleys in a French garden with rose bouquets, pergolas, a green theater, and a fountain. The garden reflects the history of cultivating roses in Europe from the early 18th century onward. • Please visit. Can be reached by bus from Riga. Me at the bus terminal of Riga bus timetable in addition to buses. Maybe because of the various bus companies. Gave me a timetable at the bus terminal in Bauska. When arrived at the Palace looks at the bus stop to bus times, is peace of mind. If you take pictures in the Palace was needed for 2 euro. Photos OK seal was given in Exchange for camera, with the camera taking photo together was okay was with each other. Soup in a cafe inside the Palace for lunch is recommended. Café, small supermarket and portable toilets were near the bus stop. It was mid-October, but garden tour was quite cold.

  • From Riga I went on a day trip by bus. So much in the big Palace or flashy inside, but not good taste lovely rooms are lovely and very helpful. Many people visited the not so slowly. It is recommended if you have time.

  • It almost seems to be at Versailles when you get in front of this beautiful building you can visit both the Interior and the Italian garden (with a premium price) Was the summer residence of the Dukes of Courland designed by Rastrelli at that time also active in Saint Petersburg. It consists of 3 bodies, with sumptuous inner rooms rich in Baroque rococo stucco. Beautiful tiled stoves, there is a fine golden Hall used as a throne room by Duke and lovely apartments of the Duke and Duchess formed from rooms decorated with different colours and intended use. To see!!!

  • You should go here if you are in Latvia. The nearby castle of Bauska is also a choice but before coming here. The Palace has really interesting displays inside. Feels like a "mini" louvre focusing on Latvian history. The garden is perfect though visited this at the end of Autumn so flowers were not in full bloom anymore. Still captured some artistic shots of the Palace.
  • Beautiful palace, worth the visit. A bit expensive for the Latvian cost of living standards. Try to go around May when the gardens are at bloom, otherwise it is not that spectacular.
  • A unique place to visit on a beautiful summer day. Large park is part of the sight. Free parking. Signs missing from parking lot to the palace though. Additional parking available at a restaurant's parking lot, altough again signs missing.
  • One of the best palaces we visited during our tour through the Baltics. Recommended and that's a;so the case for their friendly coffee shop in the basement.
  • Perfectly renovated top 1 castle in Latvia. A must see place when visiting Zemgale
