4.3
#4 of 13 in Historic Sites in Vientiane
Religious Site Tourist Spot
Find good fortune at Wat Si Muang, a wooden worship temple known for its good luck, attracting visitors to come and make a wish. If the wish is granted, people return to the temple to offer gifts and to give thanks for their fulfilled wish. Intricate details and carvings engulf both the inside and outside of the building, and the golden shade of the walls helps it stand out from the surroundings. Don't miss the golden Buddha statue that sits under a tree in the garden, in front of the temple. Make Wat Si Muang a part of your Vientiane vacation plans using our Vientiane vacation route planner.

  • Bigger in size, but ... Don't miss this gathered a wide variety of shapes architecture, and one of the most visited temples and lots of people, even a monk. Well located in downtown that looks like it. .. So more like going to a real Temple came into the piety of the temple pieces of the revocation ^ ^ by the way you look at. .. To the extent that some have mixed Hindu and want a glimpse of some Hindu exclusive pomp.

And generally it some live, many local and tourists are few, because the shrine removed from other places, but it really is worth it to visit. Not like just a lot of who arrives by car they can drive straight into the territory and must always look back at these machines ...

  • The most beautiful and peaceful Wat I have visited in Vientiane by far. A little bit out of the way but definitely worth the trip.
  • This wat is very relaxing. Not very old or historic, but a peaceful place to relax out of the merciless sun.

Where to stay in Vientiane

Pretty little Vientiane offers a good range of accommodations, with most either mid-range or upmarket hotels by national standards. Close to the riverfront sit the grandest of the bunch, with newly built high-rise hotels and boutiques set in old French colonial buildings. Move away from the water a little to find some standard, unassuming hotels, mixed in with a few more boutiques and high-rises overlooking the prettier plazas and along the main boulevards. For budget options, look at the guesthouses and hostels on the side streets around Rue Setthathilath, but make sure to reserve your room early to avoid disappointment.
