  • Wat Si Muang is a popular Temple in Vientiane. It is a beautiful place to visit for many reasons, but the main one is the chance to see the real citizens ' relationship with the superstition and religion. It is very likely that you see people with new cars joining the middle of one of the rooms of the temple by means of wire wool, is the classic ceremony with which invokes good fortune and protection for your new purchase, praying and making offerings. Then there are two other colourful buildings, which house the cult, in one of these you can bring your own Buddha and always had a small ceremony of cotton yarns and deals will be permanently tied to your person, and after several days prayer are going to get him back, at which point it will no longer be a souvenir, but a small cult object with everything that goes with it on his treatment. At Wat Si Muang are practiced various ceremonies like these, almost all related to invocation of good fortune, it is very interesting to see him actually. Architecturally the hotel dates back to the early ' 900, and is the result of rebuilding after the destruction of the temple by the Siamese twins at the end of ' 800. The original khmer style was built at the time of splendor of Lane Xang, but probably also to put its foundations on previous religious buildings. From that time comes the name Si Muang, the Laotian epic recounts being a young pregnant girl who dies in this area, his worship is concentrated in the large stone in the back of the main building, there are many versions about his death, legends and myths that still being forged define an image of santa. I'd say Wat Si Muang is the right mix between reality and history, I consider it a must among the temples of downtown.
