Sisaket Temple & Museum, Vientiane
Categories: Specialty Museums, Museums
Possibly the oldest Buddhist monastery in Laos, Sisaket Temple & Museum attracts tourists with thousands of Buddha images mounted on the walls of its inner courtyard. Its Siamese-style architectural features--a richly decorated five-tiered roof and a surrounding portico--saved the temple from the rampage of Siamese armies after a rebellion in late 1928. In the morning, you can watch monks humbly and silently receiving offerings of food from locals who come to pray. An elaborately carved wooden "naga"--a deity in the form of a giant snake--with a yapping mouth guards the entrance, while the nearby drum tower might also draw your attention. This is the oldest Wat remaining in the city. Well maintained/being restored and very interesting to visit. Good location within central Vientiane,

Nice old temple with ancient atmosphere in the center of Vientiane. It desperately need some repair. Worth to visit for 5k but I don't understand why you can't take pictures inside of the temple but can do around. Even that you can get some nice pictures of hundreds of budhas around the temple.
In desperate need of repair. Lots of buddhas. 5,000LAK entry.
One of the few interesting sites to see in Vientiane. Seems to be under badly needed restoration though still worth the price of admission (5000kp).
Overall good. Things slicely expensibe
