Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon, Vang Vieng

#Cave, #Water Body, #Must See
Take a dip in a small emerald-colored river, or explore an ancient cave at Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon, an improvised eco-water park in a scenic village close to Vang Vieng. Observe sharp stalactites and stalagmites as you descend down steep walls to reach the largest hall of the cave, which contains a gilt bronze statue of a reclining Buddha, with several other smaller Buddha images revered by locals. The green-blue waters of the lagoon outside the cave provide a good relaxation spot, as well as the opportunity to jump off a tree into the water. You can also try your hand at abseiling or hurtle down one of the water slides throughout the day. Before you visit Vang Vieng, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

  • Funny if you like to jump into the water from a tree. There are two options, one about 2m high and one about 6m. But that‘s all you can do there, it‘s a small spot and it‘s really crowded, many Chines...  more »
  • Included in the cost of our Wanrong day trip, there are 3 Blue lagoon, this 1th is the closest to the urban area of about 5km,tutu car 15 minutes to reach. I heard that blue Lagoon is 3 bigger and more interesting, but I haven't been there. Experience a dive here, in the following look not how high, the actual stand on the branch down to see, just understand why the above people hesitate, jump down the instant nose into a little water, then thump thump himself again floated up, haha is quite interesting. Do not want to dive also can swim in the pool, and swimsuit is not necessary, fast drying clothes, big shorts, T-shirts are OK.

Where to stay in Vang Vieng

A frequently visited eco-tourism spot, Vang Vieng offers a variety of budget and mid-range accommodations and basic tourist services. Most of the lodgings sit between route 13 and Nam Song, with boutique hotels tending to sit closer to the main road and low-key options grouped around the market. Bungalows on the river island are popular among young visitors traveling in groups, although you should ask to view the room and the bathroom before you pay, as these accommodations aren't always in top condition.
