Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon, Vang Vieng
(2.4/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Take a dip in a small emerald-colored river, or explore an ancient cave at Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon, an improvised eco-water park in a scenic village close to Vang Vieng. Observe sharp stalactites and stalagmites as you descend down steep walls to reach the largest hall of the cave, which contains a gilt bronze statue of a reclining Buddha, with several other smaller Buddha images revered by locals. The green-blue waters of the lagoon outside the cave provide a good relaxation spot, as well as the opportunity to jump off a tree into the water. You can also try your hand at abseiling or hurtle down one of the water slides throughout the day. • We got there a late afternoon but this seems to be a fun and popular place to see people , mostly tourists dive into the lagoon Water in the lagoon is cold and it's blue, with a small waterfall
  • Rent a bike from the center of Vang vieng 35-40 min we reach at the Blue Lagoon, a place where you can spend 1-2 hours. It is possible to have fun in the pond with the swings in the tree. Along the way, views excellent, local women looms and hand jobs of interest.

  • I'm sure the Blue Lagoon was once a picture-perfect spot, but these days it's so overrun with tourists it looks like the corner of a theme park. I'd recommend heading as early as possible (I went late...  more »
