Create an itinerary including Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon
Take a dip in a small emerald-colored river, or explore an ancient cave at Tham Phu Kham Cave and Blue Lagoon, an improvised eco-water park in a scenic village close to Vang Vieng. Observe sharp stalactites and stalagmites as you descend down steep walls to reach the largest hall of the cave, which contains a gilt bronze statue of a reclining Buddha, with several other smaller Buddha images revered by locals. The green-blue waters of the lagoon outside the cave provide a good relaxation spot, as well as the opportunity to jump off a tree into the water. You can also try your hand at abseiling or hurtle down one of the water slides throughout the day. Before you visit Vang Vieng, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

  • Felt a great sense of achievement making it through the whole cave and we really felt like we had it all to ourselves. We all hired flashlights which was a must. It’s not an easy path for three...

  • A beautiful place to spend your half day here. I recommend to visit here at noon because of cool water😅. Enjoy your lunch, swimming and jumping for few hours so it’s too close from the city. For me, I got there by motorcycle just 3-5 km from the city but the road was not good. Don’t forget to wear a mask to protect you from the dust.
  • Easy day out, cycled from town. Took about 45 min at a very leisurely pace. Probably a little easier on the way there than on the way back, but not too much of a difference. Stunning scenery on route.
  • Clear water, lots of people, not as natural as it should be because there are shops and tents around the pool. It feels more like a water park. There are many food and beverages for sale. There is a point to jump into the water and in the water there are fish in the water
  • It is a the nearest Lagoon from the town and more like a small pond. The climb up to the 120m cave is very steep. Entrance fee is 10,000 kips. Food and drinks is available inside the Lagoon area. The whole area is cool and relaxed. Transport by tuk-tuk is from 100,000 to 150,000 kips but add another 50,000 kips the tuk-tuk driver will be willing to do the return journey.
  • Lagoons cool and all but the cave is amazing. I was alone the whole way in - serene and captivating. Borrow a torch and maybe go barefoot if you’re wearing sandals
