Tham Chang Cave, Vang Vieng

(2.8/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Explore halls and narrow corridors of Tham Chang Cave, which provided a refuge for the inhabitants of a neighboring village during the wars of the 19th century. To get to the entrance of the cave, you need to cross a river on a wooden bridge and climb a hill overgrown with lush vegetation. Once in the cave, follow the well-lit pathways secured by wooden railings. From the entrance, you can see the surrounding fields, the river, and the village--the spot remains ideal for snapping a few memorable photos. Put Tham Chang Cave into our Vang Vieng vacation generator and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • The cave is indeed within walking distance of the town, but on a bike it is easier and faster. So who so is cycling in so-Asia fun. You have to pay for the bridge over the river and to enter the cave. But first you need a steep stone staircase up before you get to the entrance. There are hardly any people. We had the cave as good as all the time to ourselves. Because it is not busy, the cave is very nice and you more or less free and undisturbed can walk around is a lot of fun. You can make nice pictures. You can also still nicely over the river and the Valley. Of course you can find prayer places and Buddhas. For the cave we meet a little talkative interested young monk of 22. Down can you swim in the water that flows out of the mountain. Swimsuit remember like us.
