Tham Chang Cave, Vang Vieng

(220+ reviews on the web)
Geologic Formation
Explore halls and narrow corridors of Tham Chang Cave, which provided a refuge for the inhabitants of a neighboring village during the wars of the 19th century. To get to the entrance of the cave, you need to cross a river on a wooden bridge and climb a hill overgrown with lush vegetation. Once in the cave, follow the well-lit pathways secured by wooden railings. From the entrance, you can see the surrounding fields, the river, and the village--the spot remains ideal for snapping a few memorable photos. Put Tham Chang Cave into our Vang Vieng vacation generator and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • The cave Chan is from the town of Vang Vieng, don't go very far. Requires a considerable amount of stairs. Inside the cave, the air cool and calm lighting, making walking routes.

  • You can take a hot & dusty walk from the center of town or a tuk-tuk for a dollar. There are two entrance fees (that don't add to much): one for a property that is crossed and a second for the site. B...  more »
