At Patok Cave, see the place that served as a sanctuary for the soldiers during the Vietnam War. Rich with history, the network of three caves offers a chance to see how and in what conditions the soldiers lived during the difficult period. To get to the first cave, you’ll need to cross a small bridge. Despite its small size, you probably won’t be able to touch the ceiling of the initial cave. Turn left to get to the second, which is larger and leads straight into the third. Make sure to bring a flashlight and spare batteries in order to thoroughly explore the caves. Put Patok Cave and other Nong Khiaw attractions into our Nong Khiaw attractions planner , and watch your holiday take shape.

A boy of ten years rushes to me to pay. I ask him how it is it tells me the ratures price: 210.000 kips. I tell him it's impossible and offered him 10,000. Not enthusiastic but he accepts. He barely speaks English but tells me that he will be my guide: I say that he can not be my guide since we are talking the same language. I buy the ticket and the kid with me with her boyfriend of 15 years, who only tell me barely more than what signs indicate and barely speaks English. And neither did lamps. (Fortunately I planned mine). Only the first part of the cave is accessible. Initially the site at the bottom of the cave, which was a hospital during the war, is dangerous with big snakes. I admit that being alone, I was not reassured with the band of small boys at the entrance and the cave dark. Leaving, he asked me to pay the guides. I told him that he had to say that before and that's not correct. I give him all the same 2000 kip, but he replied me that it is not enough. I gave him the moral telling him that it does not, it must be said the purchase of the ticket. It's not respectful of visitors: he did not expect and apologizes. However, I don't think that their practices will stop.
