Whisky Village, Luang Prabang
(1/5 based on 180 reviews on the web)
Make new friends at Whisky Village, where locals offer taste tests no matter what time of day. Learn about the traditional ways the locals brew moonshine often used in ceremonies, which is now a cultural treasure of the nation. They even contribute what they think to be "magical powers" to the liquor, so don't be surprised to see animal paws, bones, whole snakes, and scorpions inside the liquor bottles. Get memorabilia at one of the many small souvenir stores, or bring home a bottle or two of the villagers' specialty drink. • The village is very precarious and it is possible to see how making the whisky of Laos and the Lao firewater. It is possible to taste and buy whiskey, white and red wine and brandy laosianas. The whisky in bottles with snakes and Scorpions in and have medicinal effect. When you finish your whiskey, according to the locals, you can fill the bottle again with rum.

  • Great stop on the way back from Pak Ou. We did some whiskey tasting and they helped us pick a couple good bottles of local booze.
  • The village we visited with the boat. This is a long street with of course lots of weaving mills and more tourist trinkets. The whisky (including the hose in the bottle) is sold but the name of the village does nothing.
