#3 of 17 in Historic Sites in Luang Prabang
Wat Xieng Mouane affords visitors a look at an intricately decorated and visually impressive Buddhist temple, its unusual design adorned with paintings reflecting Buddha's life. The monastery dates back to 1879 and runs a UNESCO-funded training program for young monks, teaching woodcarving, painting, and Buddha-casting to help maintain the region's temples. Look out for the structure's notable pillars supporting the front porch area, and be sure to check out the showroom at the site, which displays and sells craft works by the local monks Arrange to visit Wat Xieng Mouane and other attractions in Luang Prabang using our Luang Prabang holiday planner.

Probably the best of LP. Person on our visit, which probably adds to the charm, a still more mystical atmosphere, inviting an instant meditation. An entry on the side of Mekong River and one by the central street, 20000kp per person. Inescapable, sublime!

Rich, fabulous decoration, and a peaceful place to take your time and wonder at the buildings and their internal decorations and artefacts as well as the exteriors which are equally stunning.  more »

Wat Xiang Man is just one of a number of very beautiful temples in the central part of Luang Prabang. Well worth making a visit to.

The temples are amazing and you can walk around inside of them, where you can see the detailed painting and statues inside. Entry fee is 20,000KIP which isn't too bad.
