Rising 150 m (492 ft) in the center of Luang Prabang's old town, Mount Phousi offers a fantastic view of the city's architectural, religious, and cultural landmarks. During your gentle ascent to the summit, stop by the surrounding temples and shrines where you can pray, enjoy the view, and rest. Halfway up the hill, notice the big-bellied Buddha statue tucked in a grotto. Bring an extra water bottle, a hat, good walking shoes, and some insect repellent. • It’s quite a climb, but it’s worth it. View over Luangprabang is magnificient. You het a good overview on the area. On th way, there are a lot of statues to admire.  more »

  • 20kip to the top, i went mid day and had the entire walk and place to myself at the top which is what I like. I heard the sunset is like way too crowded. A short walk up a bunch of steps to the top, really manageable just bring water. A breath taking view of the entire town, a must do
  • Cool place to see the sunset. But beware that you have an entrance fee (20.000 KIP = 2 USD) and if you wanna get a decent spot make sure you arrive at least 30 min before the sunset time else it will be so crowded that you won’t be able to get a proper shot!
  • The horde of sunset chasers can be quite off-putting. Quite a scenic view but there is not much serenity to speak of. If I do find myself back here again, I'll go at other times where it's less crowded
  • Started climbing at 530am so did the climb for free. Barely any people then and even closer to sunrise, there were less than 30 humans. The climb is very easy and doesn't seem anywhere close to even 300 steps. Have a torch or phone with flashlight though.
  • Wonderful place to watch the sunset. Get there early if you want a place to a it as it gets busy. Also nice for a wander around and explore, lots of statues and carved serpents etc... The views are worth the climb.
