Rising 150 m (492 ft) in the center of Luang Prabang's old town, Mount Phousi offers a fantastic view of the city's architectural, religious, and cultural landmarks. During your gentle ascent to the summit, stop by the surrounding temples and shrines where you can pray, enjoy the view, and rest. Halfway up the hill, notice the big-bellied Buddha statue tucked in a grotto. Bring an extra water bottle, a hat, good walking shoes, and some insect repellent. • Great views - steep climb to get there. Make sure you do it early morning or late afternoon. Can buy water etc at top but double price.
  • This is worth the hike uphill if you time it right. I went up about 430pm for an October sunset. Get there early if you want to get a good view or a seat. Cost is 20,000 kip (~$2.50 US). Climb is stee...  read more »
  • Awesome view over town. Go there early in the morning for a more quite moment. The rest of the day supposed to be too hot or loaded with other tourists.
  • It's a quick 5-10 minute walk up to the top. The views from the top are okay, nothing spectacular. If you go during sunset it will be crowded and loud which kind of ruins the experience. Still not to bad If you have nothing better to do.
  • The view from the top is amazing and if you walk up in the middle of the day there won't be as many others up there, but it will be hot so bring water. Entry fee is 20,000KIP and you can purchase water from the top but much cheaper to do it before hand.
  • The view is nice enough but you'll be surrounded by tourists. If you really want to appreciate the sprawling natural beauty of Laos, hit the road south towards Vang Vieng or do some trekking into the hills up north in Nong Khiaw.
  • Nice walk up there with many buddhas on the way. The view is good but no that spectacular!
