Where to stay in Cholpon Ata

A seasoned tourist destination, Cholpon Ata has a good set of accommodations, ranging from luxury resorts to humble hostels. The swankiest establishments lie on private beaches outside of town. You'll find a particularly representative cluster in Bosteri, about 10 km (6.2 mi) to the east. In Cholpon Ata proper, several budget lodgings sit on or near the main Sovetskaya Street that runs parallel to the lakeshore--choose from hostels, guesthouses, and hotels. Several mid-range and higher-end hotels put you right on the water, some with private beaches. For more privacy, look for rental villas and apartments.

  • 50SOM and 3 min walk from city hall, it opens at 9 am and closes at 5pm. There are displays of various object about the heritage of the Issyk-Kul region.  more »
  • I was happy I found this museum opened in the winter season, four o'clock in the afternoon. Obviously I was the only guest. The staff doesn't speak English but for buying a ticket from them is not so ...  more »
  • The museum displays a natural and cultural history of the region from pre-historic to modern times. Many of the exhibits had English explanations which helped greatly. Well worth a visit, but it's not...  more »
