Mikhail Frunze Museum, Bishkek
(2.8/5 based on 45+ reviews on the web)
Explore the country's history at Mikhail Frunze Museum, a metallic, cube-shaped building, the three-story museum documents the life of the Bishkek-born Bolshevik leader who gave name to the city during its Soviet period. A preserved house in which Frunze grew up is on the ground floor with well-restored rooms and genuine household items. The museum has well-laid out artifacts, genuine documents, and old photographs as well as scale models of military machines, airplanes, and trains. You can explore a relief map of Frunze's travels in Kyrgyzstan and a restored dining room. There is very little labeling in English, so you should do a bit of research prior to your visit if you don't speak Russian. • The museum has English descriptions, unfortunately not everywhere. The informations seemed to us not chronological or in any other order, so it was a bit hard to find out what Mr. Frunze made so famous. That's why I suggest to gather a bit of informations about him before. For us as interested English speaking tourists the museum was worth it. 100 Som entry per person.

  • This museum is dedicated to the soviet hero "Frunze". Well... It's so over the top in idolizing him that it made me remember north Korean museums. Also, there are extremely few information in English,...  more »
  • We carried out a tour in October in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. I described it in detail in the previous recall. Now I'm a bit of a repeat our travel plan and more focus on Frunze House Museum. First arrived in Bishkek, the next day went to Almaatu. Night, and the next day drove to the charyn Canyon and through zagranpost Columbian moved again in Kyrgyzstan, Karakol town. Two days later, we actively studied the Karakol′skih beauty of the surroundings and on the third day were returning to Bishkek. We booked ourselves a taxi, so were able to stop and take a dip in one of the Kirghiz open-air mineral sources, approximately 80 km from Karakol in. The weather was very warm, and water in basins of three kinds: one boiling water in another warm, very cool. We are very pleased that the driver himself told about them and allowed to linger and swim. By the evening we quickly and safely to its first hotel voyage, we enjoyed there. It was a Friday and we again culturally. Quickly threw things into the hotel and asked our driver Karakol ride us to the Philharmonic. In the 18-45 we were near the building, there's a program on this day was one of the musicians from St. Petersburg on the organ. All the tickets were sold, but we asked ourselves a place in the side chairs and were still able to listen to the concert. I like the body in Kaliningrad in the building of a huge Cathedral in Gothic style on the island of Kant that was more beautiful, but I liked it, however. The next day we depart was 4:00 pm and we decided to devote some time to get acquainted with the city. Walk in the light of day. We liked the sculptures, buildings, a lot of fountains. Then went to the Museum of fine arts. There's a beautiful work of local artists, and that's with famous foreign personalities they have problems, many halls are closed. Then we have thought how to visit local city botanical gardens, two of them, in different places of the city, but for a long meditation, decided to go close, on foot, in Frunze Museum. Very much we liked people. We are often asked how to get to the Museum and all openly tried to help us understand in their locality. Booked himself a tour, we had 4 person, two teachers of history. The guide told us a lot of new and interesting things about the life of Frunze, even teachers have learned something new. Watched a lot of interesting photographs, exhibits. And even our instructors told something tour guide. It was very interesting. And most importantly, on the first floor of the large building was the House in which lived Frunze. Home about 130 years. Very well preserved. It was amazing. We were very pleased that visited this museum. It bought some suvenirčikov, and then throughout the city have not been able to find anything on the memory of this country. And the price is two times cheaper than at the airport.
