Ala-Too Square, Bishkek

Inspirock Rating:
3.5/5 based on 40+ reviews on the web
Clean and impressive, Ala-Too Square fits in well with its monumental surroundings in central Bishkek. The focus of public life in the capital, the square features a monument to liberty and a large equestrian statue of Manas, the hero of the 17th-century epic, erected on a tall red marble pedestal against a backdrop of the State Historical Museum. With terraced pools, musical fountain shows, and benches scattered all over the square, the place makes a popular hangout place for families. The square also features a monument to the famous writer Chingiz Aitmatov. Take a stroll around and enjoy monumental buildings, or watch the changing of the guards at the base of a giant 45 m (148 ft) mast hoisting the Kyrgyzstan flag. • Kyrgyzstan flag hangs in the Ala-Too Square of Bishkek City Centre, and the equestrian statue of Manas was seen changing of the guard, but most people in general are not. Large square is more widely felt.

  • In my opinion this place is beautiful, very essential, but clean and quite elegant. Best time to visit is summer, when this square is filled full of flowers and people from all over the world.
