Explore the remarkable alpine scenery suited for hikers, horseback riders, mountain climbers, and skiers at Ala-Archa Gorge. Established in 1976 some 40 km (25 mi) from the capitol, the park is noted for the vibrant, multicolored junipers that grow in the area. In addition to the very rare snow leopard, the reserve contains many interesting geological formations, river valleys, large glaciers, and ski areas at altitudes over 4,000 m (13,000 ft). Immerse yourself in the boundless natural beauty, snapping pictures and relaxing in the serene environment. During your treks, always carry extra water and wear comfortable walking shoes.
