Souk Sharq, Kuwait City

3.8
#5 of 33 in Shopping in Kuwait
Set on a seafront promenade, Souk Sharq started as an open-air market and went on to become one of the major shopping malls in Kuwait. The mall offers a combination of international chain stores, classy boutiques, and trendy designer shops, as well as restaurants and cafes with a sea view. Entertainment options include movie theaters, an amusement park, and a central plaza that features live performances and exhibits. The intriguing 5.5 m (18 ft) tall structure on the ground floor, serving as a water-clock and a thermometer, was designed by French physicist Professor Bernard Gitton. • This is one of the oldest shopping malls in Kuwait. With a nice walkway beside the sea, it would be always to take a little walk with your family and enjoy the view. The walk way on the other side of the mall with the small marina is a nice play for children who want to ride bikes. the mall has a nice food court and a considerable number of coffee shops. The mall also has Sultan center for household items shopping, and a variety of shops that would make shopping there for clothes and other items a good idea. The mall has a big parking lot that would be crowded in the holiday, but if you go a bit early or mid-week you will for sure find a spot. One of Kuwait's biggest fish markets is located there, from which you would be able to get whatever you may want of sea food.
  • This is one of the most memorable places in Kuwait, despite being one of the older malls in Kuwait, it remains to maintain a sense of timelessness and excitement as it did since the day of it's opening. I recommend the mornings for going to this place as it is the least busy and you get to enjoy the architecture of the place whether you're inside the mall or outside taking a stroll by the waterfront, or by the harbor side.
  • I like it. Even though the mall built in eighties of last century, but the good maintenance management and planning management makes it look new and with unique experience and stylish design. The mall has one of oldest food court that has many restaurants with different cuisines. It has very good brands such as Zara and Dabenhams. Sultan center open in North of the mall with stylish looking but little pricey than the other supermarket in Kuwait. The seafront walking paths one of exceptional cornices in Kuwait city and you can observe the huge ships entering the sea port Shuwaikh also it has huge marine for docking the yachts. Like the experience and do enjoy the visit every time and I love to be here for nice view and high quality walking path. The mall has Fantasy world shop for kids toys. It has also good movie theater on the Middle.
  • Nice and traditional Mall...having fish market, where you can buy fish of your choice and give it to the hotel inside it,they will cook it for you with awesome taste, but it's little bit expensive but will get you a great experience. Local dates and fruits also available. But I didn't got more time to visit other departments.
  • Fantastic complex , got a lot of shops , can get almost all you need from it , and on the side there is fresh fish market , also a lot of restaurants which has sea's side view

Where to stay in Kuwait City

Few look much further than the peninsula of Kuwait City when looking for accommodations. And with good reason too, with plenty of attractions by the waterfront and a wide range of accommodations located here, including skyscraper hotels, standard chains, basic guesthouses, and charming boutiques. But looking further back from the water can bring up some hidden treasures, with the older (or, at least, less recently renovated) districts still possessing a certain storied charm with their aged look and more traditional markets. You'll find hostels, guesthouses, and a few luxury options to boot.
