Kuwait Zoo, Kuwait City

2.2
#4 of 9 in Parks in Kuwait
At Kuwait Zoo, meet the 1,800 species, including gargantuan vultures. The zoo suffered severe damage during the 1990 Iraqi invasion, when many animals were killed. The restored zoo features a section with animal enclosures, a cultural center, a veterinary clinic, and a maintenance center. Kids will enjoy a train ride through the zoo. Note that the zoo has received criticism for its small cages and old-fashioned breeding system. Read the latest reviews before you go if this may upset you. • I have visited this place several times with my family and also with a group of friends. If someone wishes to visit with family, it's better to go in mid-evening and stay up to 6pm or 7pm. Time spending will be great with site viewing, having fun and play with kids and taking some snacks. If wishes to go with group, better in end of morning i.e at 10am.
  • Very nice place to hang out. With lots of different species of animal and birds. It one of the best place to visit in Kuwait. Very nice garden for gathering and food.
  • My expectations were very very low. But honestly I was pleasantly surprised to see all those beautiful animals. Hats off to the administrators for managing this place so well in kuwaiti heat.
  • Plenty of animals and birds in this small area zoo. Lots of goat, deer and bird varieties. There is also elephant, hippo, lion, tiger and bear which are few and in small cages so sometimes you don't see them. The giraffe and zebra exhibits are good (though everything is heavily barricaded). There is a large picnic area in the middle with a snack shop. Some places smell a little but not too bad. There is a train (on regualar wheels) that goes around the zoo - you can't see much from the train but its mainly there to attract the kids.
  • It's a nice clean zoo. Lots of things to see. Fun for kids who like outdoors (couple of hours). Good clean restrooms. Adequate shade and benches, open walkways, areas for picnics.

Where to stay in Kuwait City

Few look much further than the peninsula of Kuwait City when looking for accommodations. And with good reason too, with plenty of attractions by the waterfront and a wide range of accommodations located here, including skyscraper hotels, standard chains, basic guesthouses, and charming boutiques. But looking further back from the water can bring up some hidden treasures, with the older (or, at least, less recently renovated) districts still possessing a certain storied charm with their aged look and more traditional markets. You'll find hostels, guesthouses, and a few luxury options to boot.
