#3 of 6 in Trails in Kenya
Escape Nairobi's hustle and bustle and enter the tranquil world of an indigenous tropical dry forest at Oloolua Nature Trail. Running for 5 km (3 mi) through thick forest vines and undergrowth below high treetops, the trail partly follows the course of the Mbagathi River. Spanning 250 hectares (618 acres), the Oloolua forest offers good opportunities for brisk hiking, jogging, and picnicking. Enjoy the serenity, scenic views of water cascades, and the sound of the birds in this popular getaway. You can also explore a 33 m (108 ft) long cave along the river. • It is actually a nice walk, but people throw litter along the trails. Although there are weekly clean-up, there is still plastic bottles etc.. It costs approximately 600 KSH for tourists to get access to the forest, which is a little expensive. that one gets a walk out of it. However, there is a right fine cave with bats. Tip: remember the flashlight/headlamp for this!

  • In all honesty I expected much more. its not really a place you can go solo like other nature trails. In a group it can be better, and its not something where you can spend and enjoy an entire day. Al...  more »

  • Very nice place for picnic. Nature's real picture.. Beautiful & Cold place. Missing signage.. Easy to lost.. Have to bring own food.. It will be more good if small food kiosk open inside.. Otherwise very nice place.
  • Great place to go for a quick lazy walk and as well as meditating. Good trail for mountain biking as well, not too long though. Might be confusing for first timers especially due to lack of signage but it gets easier if you've been there a couple of time. I am a little concerned about the security on the south side of the forest though. Hope the managing the place look into it. Needs more work though but has potential.
  • It's a small park, but makes for an entertaining place to spend a few hours. There's a small cave to explore, a rustic watchtower, a really pretty bamboo cluster, a small waterfall near the entrance and a whole bunch of monkeys for company :)
  • Clean air good view of the nature and also the silence natural environment. Good for nature walks and team building. A place to be.
  • Go there any day all day!!! Serene environment with beautiful ambiance!!! The waterfall is just brilliant. Such a relaxing atmosphere
