See an innovative handcar moved by a modified bicycle at Nairobi railway museum, a museum of the East African railways adjacent to a key railway station. View curious items on display like tortoise calculators, wooden box and Bakelite phone sets, brass bells, and a Kenya-Uganda Railway water filter. You can tour vintage steam and diesel engines and wooden passenger coaches in the spacious yard and check out the 1923 Tanganyika Railways locomotives used in the Hollywood classic movie "Out of Africa." You must make an appointment to see operational steam locomotives, as they are occasionally used for tourist excursions. See a model miniature railway inside the building and a bicycle trolley. • It's has cool stuff! You can know quite a lot about the beginning of Nairobi from here.
  • I like the old engines. If you are a student who has interest in machines better visit.
  • It was a very interesting historical event. I enjoyed every moment walking back in history enjoying what I had just been taught or read in history books. Was able to compare the intial steam engines and to compare with the diesel and ultimately with the electric contemporary trains
  • Great historic site to visit within town..quiet and artistic...it however needs proper presentation and maintenance...much of the artifacts and parts of the trains are worn out..needs to accommodate and integrate modern technological innovation such as virtual tours.. A giude would aslo be helpful
  • Nice that it's been improved and cleaned up. Can we have clear photography charges written down? Nice location but needs direction on charging for photography.
