  • Kazakhstan national museum boasts a magnificent appearance. Admission is 1) is a general Museum, 2) choose from a regular tube + golden thread can buy additional tickets that you can take a picture, you can purchase. The value of pay an additional fee for the golden thread thought. General pipe alone is Kazakhstan's history and culture.

  • Here, it explains well the emergence of Kazakhstan. There are audio guide Russian and English, unfortunately not in German. The Golden Hall is very interesting. Here also a guided tour can be booked. Due to the size, time to visit should be planned to at least 2 hours.

  • Very modern building. Good displays although the lettering explaining the display is very small. I did not have time to see the entire museum. Will definitely go back.
  • Pros: Cool building. Cheap entry. Decent pre-history display. Additional arts exhibit and visiting/temporary displays Cons: Astana room is kinda blank. Other than military/political items there's no modern social history displays. Contemporary art exhibit is dull and lacks variety compared to European galleries. Have to pay extra for gold rooms.
  • Tour guide is mostly unavailable. Went there with guests 3 times and couldn't find any available one. The biggest drawback - they don't allow to take a stroller with the baby.
  • Beautiful building but the expositions are few and not interesting
  • Love it! I recommend visiting at 3pm since there is a grand show with a huge flying golden bird in the main hall starting at this time. You have to book an English speaking guide in advance, and you can always rent an audio guide. The halls of ancient history and etnography are really good.

Where to stay in Astana

With the rush of building going on in Astana, the capital city adds more and more accommodations to its urban area each year. Like most planned cities, the development has started from the center and fanned out, latching onto parks and crossroads to make new commercial, business, and entertainment districts. Some sky-high hotels offer all available luxuries and impressive views across the downtown area, while some more humble hotels serve as pleasant but basic options. Hostels with shared rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms sit on the less decorated side streets of the central district.
