Park Named After Panfilov’s 28 Guardsmen, Almaty

(4.5/5 based on 400+ reviews on the web)
Centering around a dramatic monument, Park Named After Panfilov’s 28 Guardsmen commemorates an infantry unit of 28 soldiers who bravely fought the Nazis near Moscow during World War II. Lead by Ivan Panfilov, the guardsmen from all 15 Soviet republics significantly delayed the advance of German soldiers and tanks, despite a high number of casualties. Notice the black monument's eternal flame, burning for the fallen troops of both the Russian Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. Relax on the benches and enjoy the park's verdant ambience. Nearby attractions include a museum of musical instruments and a cathedral made entirely of wood. • From the church to the WW2. From the house of God to Soviet monuments. Just few steps. Do not forget to visit a Museum of Kazakh National music instruments.
  • In the middle of the cow and full-filled oasis in Almaty was like well. Spacious walk in the forest in all directions to this outstretched FIR stretching. Even in summer the shade would be equal to the Jersey mountain cyag.

  • Primarily, this beautiful park is a place of memory of all Kazakhstani people who fought against fascism in the fields of fighting in World War II. Here you need to come with children, telling them a story that honored the memory of their grandfathers and pradedah and preserved peace in our land. The monument is very emotionally filled. I have whenever the code here go my eyes tear, purifying the soul!

  • It is a nice place for lunch time walking. It is relatively small, but well maintained. You can even see squirrels playing and feasting sometimes. Less often than before but still can. Cathedral is also here. It is quite different from traditional European Cathedrals, but it is very beautiful outside, but even better inside.
  • Nice park with a cathedral, museum, and monuments all within walking distance. Perfect for a stroll when the weather's good. Decent eateries in the area.
  • Although really nice park as a concept the lower part of it nearing Gogol St is normally full of drunks and unpleasant people. Watch out for your pockets.
  • A nice place for a walk among trees.
  • The church is nice, the park itself is so so
