Kolsai Lakes, Almaty

4.9
#3 of 6 in Nature in Almaty
Take a drive up to Kolsai Lakes, three alpine lakes nestled among the dramatic cliffs and fir forests of the Tian Shan mountain range. Six hours away from Almaty, the road leading to the lake area is bumpy but scenic, passing vast steppes and canyons. Explore the picturesque landscape of the hiking trails around the lakes, go fishing for trout, camp out, or visit a lakeside guesthouse. On a warm summer day, cool off with a dip in the lakes' clear, placid waters. To visit Kolsai Lakes on your trip to Almaty, use our Almaty trip itinerary maker tool .

  • Lake reopened after a landslide last week, we chose to ride a horse instead of going there by foot. Interesting experience in riding the horses from ticket office to the first lake, although my horse ...  more »
  • We went to Kolsai Lake right after the park re-opened after a land slight. Our driver dropped us off at the ticket office and from there it was an 8km hike towards the first lake. Although easy and re...  more »
  • The place is amazing! We had planned to go to the Kolsay Lakes, also call on the way to a fantastic Charyn konjon and kaindy. Since about the place and so quite a lot of information right now we turn to specifics: much cheaper and more convenient to find the driver with 4 x 4 car in Almaty and give the opportunity to directly make the person you're lucky, while on the trip you save considerably! In our case, in the Kazakh OLX we were lucky enough to find and connect with Erlan (punctual experienced no haunting driver, nice people) here's his contact info: email: yerlan.shaperov@mail.ru Tel: Tel: 87012988800 activ 87052488800 beeline towards the village Saty, we stopped first at the Charyn Konjon and then to the kaindy Lake-very Nicely in the afternoon came to Saty, stayed in a guest house at Tamerhana-+ 7 771 412 6887 Housing prices with dinner and breakfast average 5000 tenge. (15 gryvnas) on the day of arrival our occurred more landslide. The road to Kolsai was closed to all even on foot and on horseback, came to FEMA leadership. Despite the difficulties, we went to Kolsaju 1 (Lake) on foot through the mountains from a nearby village. Back 7 km, 7 km away. -cool trip. Except for us that day went only group from Germany (they took the horses, but by the time it took the same as we walk) Impressions. A trip of this kind could do with such a source in $200. (Taking into account all the costs of the driver and the US)

  • Kolsai is a succession of 3 alpine lakes between altitudes of 1700 – 2650m. The 3 lakes are exceptionally clear and lie in an idyllic location, surrounded by massive cliffs and mountains with snowy caps and wooded slopes. Seeing how it is a long way there, it is good to take at least 2 days (3 days for those who know how to relax) to enjoy the place. Kolsai lakes combines beautifully with Charyn Canyon. The Kolsai lakes are supremely suited to hiking and horse riding. You can rent out horses for the day to take you up from Kolsai 1 up to Kolsai 3. If you go hiking, take the path right of Kolsai 1 for a 9km hike to the middle lake at 2250m (the most beautiful one in my opinion). Then take the path left of Kolsai 2 for another strenuous 6km to reach the top lake at 2650m.
  • very amazing place! 💚
  • A beautiful place to visit..
  • Even here you can leave a review ... Call the second of the three to the Lake between according to legend. I should note that here the mountain area weather is sharp. All of a sudden showers struggled up to Phil, go ring when all of a sudden the rain in my reader. Second, when you reach the Lake no longer go up if the situation was not to be. In addition to this high altitude cold twice met soldiers from Lake jjyae to the Lord. Lake arrived in the rain came down again, wait for the sign.

  • Love this place ... the most delightful lakes in the Almaty region. Was three times kolsay-1 (lower Lake) and walk to the second kolsay-2, all three times and no more than 2:00 zanilo pegkom, but this is someone who forces a lot, and so many who took 3:00 and more time ... You can climb up on the horseback (I zhalko😢) trail is narrow and sleeping. Camping for two nights stayed on at the end of the 1-Kolsai Lake! Here it goes then enjoy these places! 😍🤗
