First President's Park, Almaty

4.1
#5 of 14 in Parks in Almaty
Nature / Park
Relax and enjoy the large fountain at First President's Park, a 73 hectare (180 acre) arboretum set against a backdrop of spectacular mountains. Opened in 2013, the park features an elegant turquoise-domed observation deck and a curved colonnade with a marble arch commemorating the country's independence. Meanwhile, an elaborate fountain with light and music shoots water up to 30 m (98 ft). Paved lanes, flower beds, birch and fir trees, and numerous benches create an easy atmosphere for a stroll. Take some water with you as there are no shops in the park. • I like our park. Clean, nicely, not crowded. Around a single trader trinkets that in other parks at every step. No stalls with sweets, sweets and other pests of child health. We come here with scooters, bicycles. The children play, play with the meat. There is a trampoline. Good place for a picnic. Recommend for a family vacation!

  • President's Park is located above the neighborhood "Orbita", far from the city centre, but despite this, summer evenings there are very-very crowded! And although, in the park there are no rides, no special entertainment, nor the cafés and restaurants-it is popular with residents and visitors to the city that has a huge green area, with gardens of fuzzy, fragrant firs, numerous flower beds, meadows shaded by trees, and most importantly fresh, cool mountain air and beautiful panoramic views from the observation deck! The "cons" of the Park is the lack of drinking water "fountains" and almost no points of sale of water, and in addition, was surprised that sultry summer evening throughout the Park are not streamed water nor in the Central cascade, neither the Japanese nor the nook on the Hill Lookout, which could give this place an even greater attraction for relaxation and walks visitors! It would also be nice for such a huge park area to organize modern bicycle, small sports grounds (volleyball, tennis, badminton), install-more shops and in remote corners of the Park (and not only in the Center) for the elderly and parents with young children.

  • EPIC place! Will remain in the history of the city for a long time. A tribute to honor the first President of the beautiful country. Have a walk with the family. Frequent performances and concerts.

Where to stay in Almaty

Accommodations in the urban area of Almaty can be found almost exclusively in the grid-system city center. Located close to the main train station, you'll find hotels both upmarket and budget, with the former enjoying commanding views of the mountains on tree-lined boulevards, and the latter tucked away on the central district's side streets. Ski resorts to the south, as well as wild camping opportunities, provide good options for those wanting to get active and enjoy the surrounding landscape.
