Marvel at the giant 371.5 m (1,219 ft) tall "syringe" of Almaty Television Tower, the world’s tallest tubular steel structure, built on the slopes of Kok Tobe Mountain near Almaty. Completed in 1983, this fabulous piece of Soviet engineering captures and broadcasts signal across rugged mountains, dominating a spectacular landscape. Observe Almaty from the deck below the tower in a small park with a mini-zoo, a restaurant, and a cafe. Designed to withstand earthquakes of up to 10 on the Richter scale, this modern steel structure features two observation decks at 146 m (479 ft) and 252 m (827 ft), accessible by two high-speed elevators. Part of Kok Tobe Park, you can take a cable car near the tower, and enjoy a meal or a coffee at its base. To visit Almaty Television Tower on your trip to Almaty, use our Almaty trip generator.

  • Was on the rig. Nothing special impressions no does that only to see the city from a bird's-eye view, but prevented the smog and saw nothing.

  • Top of Kaktobe towers this tower and look out over the city. It is a good landmark to have when one orients itself in the city. You could do so much with this tv tower but in my guide so it is completely empty. Why not set up a restaurant or a lookout tower? It had so much more.

  • Take the cable car on a clear sunny day so you get to see the beautiful mountains. You won't regret it. Have your picture taken with the famous golden apple when you reach the top. If more adventurous, try the Fast Rollercoaster ride/toboggan if you're comfortable with the thought of controlling the brakes yourself.
  • Beautiful views of the city. Different attractions. Mini zoo.

  • View of the city is simply magnificent. Climb the mountain you can on a minibus-500 tenge in both parties, but also on foot-you pay only the entrance.

  • Clear air away from the city centre, nice to drink. There's nothing all that special. It's great to take a walk. Paid to operate the shuttle itself. The bathroom is also paid. It's too bad that I can't go up to the tower.
