  • Television tower that is strategically located at the highest point of Almaty--in Kok-Tobe. Other than this nothing extraordinary.  more »
  • Televezionnaja Tower on Kok-Tobe "-it's" almost "business card of Almaty, visible from many parts of the Centre of Almaty, especially from the upper floors of high-rise buildings with Windows facing East and South side, i.e. the side with views of the mountain ranges. Tower is beautifully illuminated in the dark!

  • Very popular place for city sightseeing and selfies
  • Take the cable car on a clear sunny day so you get to see the beautiful mountains. You won't regret it. Have your picture taken with the famous golden apple when you reach the top. If more adventurous, try the Fast Rollercoaster ride/toboggan if you're comfortable with the thought of controlling the brakes yourself.
  • Excellent views of the city! Around the Tower, there is a wonderful Park Zoo, restaurants. The perfect place for romantic walks and relaxing with family. Don't forget to visit the Beatles shop

Where to stay in Almaty

Accommodations in the urban area of Almaty can be found almost exclusively in the grid-system city center. Located close to the main train station, you'll find hotels both upmarket and budget, with the former enjoying commanding views of the mountains on tree-lined boulevards, and the latter tucked away on the central district's side streets. Ski resorts to the south, as well as wild camping opportunities, provide good options for those wanting to get active and enjoy the surrounding landscape.
