#1 of 27 in Parks in Jordan
A vast natural valley dotted with sandstone and granite cliffs, Wadi Rum Protected Area presents a dramatic picture of desert beauty, accessible to visitors for tours and activities. The area is inhabited by Bedouin tribes, some of which still sleep in traditional goat-hair tents. The natives also run much of the local eco-tourism economy--research ahead to book a hiking, camelback, or jeep tour with them. Experienced climbers may also be interested in checking out rock-climbing options in the wadi. • Rent a jeep, ride a camel, walk the dessert and climp the cliffs. Try to be there in the sunset. Pick a place that you will be alone to feel the energy of a unique place. Observe the different...  more »
  • I adored Wadi Rum. We did the 2 hour tour - which was plenty to g et a feel for the place. I'd love to go camping there, I would gladly go back.  more »
  • Im not sure what people do there for a whole day, we went there for a 2 hour drive which we felt was the right amount of time. I do recommend living in one of the overnight camps though!  more »

  • The accommodation, foods and everything is good. but the tour they offered to me. As an individual traveler I expected to pay a more to go on a tour. Since I was told I’ll be with another group of 4 in the morning for camel rides, I thought the price would’ve been fare as I’m not on a one-person trip. However the camel sunrise ride was not impressive at all. Waited a bit until the guide came then we didn’t actually go to the dune to see sunrise. Just 20min ride to somewhere 1km away from the camp and 20min back. I could’ve even walked to the place in 30min with ease as it’s not dunes. I was charged a lot. When I arrived visitor center I realized I could have a camel for 6hrs for the price I paid. Not just 1hr aimless wandering.
  • Beautiful place. Amazing rock formations and red sand. I feel sorry we only took a 2-hour jeep ride. It is definitely worth to stay longer or better - stay overnight in the desert.
  • Like nowhere on earth. Watch "The Martian" movie and you'll understand. Awesome sights that were made millions of years ago. View it at sunset, and the pics come out the best.
  • Stayed a night at the camp, it was very enjoyable. The dinner was very good, the tents were comfortable, and it was nice lying outside under the stars. The host was very helpful and nice. He tries his best to help you and provide you with travel tips.
  • One of the most magical and beautiful places I've ever been. Depending on what time of the year you are there, wake up early, watch the stars and wait for the sun to rise over the cliffs and sand. Unforgettable memories from this place. You have to go here, if you are in Jordan!
