The oldest known depiction of the Holy Land, Madaba Mosaic Map lets you see sacred lands from Egypt to Lebanon from a centuries-old perspective. Housed within an early Byzantine church, the map dates back to the 6th century and provides the earliest accurate depiction of the Middle East, focusing on Jerusalem. • History of the Institute Institute Madaba mosaic art and restoration in 2007 as a nonprofit institution, its strong partnerships with the public and private sectors, and bound as a member of several boards and committees, to be a regional centre for excellence in the field of maintenance and preservation of the mosaics as a unique cultural and historical heritage of Jordan, and skilled graduates and professional support to work in production of mosaic and stone formation. It was built before the mosaic School of Madaba Institute which was founded in 1992 and was providing secondary vocational programme. In 2006 the Ministry of tourism and antiquities, cooperated and the General Department of Antiquities, Jordan tourism development project funded by the U.S. Agency for international development USAID and the Italian Government to develop school to become regional centre of excellence in the field of maintaining the mosaics which are unique element of Jordanian heritage. Today, the Institute provides the only diploma program of its kind in the region, and specializes in restoration and preservation of mosaics by scientific methodologies, in addition to the technical aspects of mosaic art and production. I enjoyed school and Institute since the beginning with technical support and administrative and financial support of the Jordanian Government and non-governmental organizations and the Jordanian people's contributions besides Italian and American counterparts. The Institute is located in Madaba, Jordan city famous for its mosaic art for more than 1500 years and embraces some of the best legacy of the Romans and Byzantines, however from the mosaics in Jordan.
