An outdoor museum featuring archaeological findings from the area, Madaba Archaeological Park draws visitors to its exquisite Byzantine mosaics. Since excavations started in the 1990s, many mosaics from the walls and floors of historic ruins were found, some dating back to the 1st century AD. Admire the different art styles and themes depicted on the mosaics, and see the remains of a sixth-century church, discovered in 1887. • Place is well maintained and within a walking distance from Madaba Visitors Center Part of it is the "Church of Virgin Mary"
  • Excellent quiet open-air museum well worth an hour or two of your time. There are many mosaics in situ and a few transferred to walls. There is also a section of a Roman road. The mosaics school is just on the edge of the site.
