  • A small half-ruined fortress in period restoration, when work is not clear. You cannot go to work immediately asked to leave. While special no interest. But this is one of the few historical sites.

  • Close to the flag pole and the maritime museum. there is free parking, although Sherif Hussain house is not open, but you can talk to some people giving you some brochures.  more »
  • A fun little fortress next to a huge flagpole. Enjoy exactly the children. Inside day go restoration workers don't mind if you go and explore the fortress. Night watchman lets inside for money.

  • It's a mumlok and ottoman castle , small but nice one, now its closed , its under restoration, its will be open in the beginning of April
  • You'll arrive at the entrance of a mini museum where you will buy a ticket for 2 JD. It's small, but has good information. Exiting the museum, you'll head up the street for the entrance to the Castle, dating as far back as 14th C. Though it is currently under construction in honor of the centennial of the Arab Revolt (and because a team did shoddy work of it in the 1960s), you'll still be welcome to walk through the wooden gates and into a different time period. Talk to the men restoring the castle. They will tell you what they've found that day or if National Geographic was there the day before to film a documentary. If you're lucky, you might be able to see some of the bullet shells they've recovered. Definitely read up on the castle before you go as there are no placards inside the castle itself. Interesting to note: the Aqaba Flagpole (that is so big they can probably see it from space) is not the Jordanian flag, but the Arab Revolt flag. It flies over the castle in memory.
