Kamegaoka Hachiman Shrine is the largest Hachiman Shrine in Tokyo.HistoryThe shrine was founded in 1627 with reclamation of the shoal. The God Hachiman whom the shrine reveres was also a local Shinto deity of the Minamoto clan thus the shinto shrine received cordial protection by the Tokugawa shogunate. On other hand, the shrine was revered from the people of shitamachi, and familiar as "Hachiman of Fukagawa".At the Meiji period, the shrine lost the cordial protection like Edo period, but was chosen as Tokyo Ten Shrines by the Meiji government though it was the one inferior to Hikawa Shrine and other major shrines in the status that the government had provided. On March 10, 1945, the shrine was burnt down by the bombing of Tokyo. On March 18, the Emperor Hirohito who was inspecting the burnt area visited here and received the explanation about the damage in precincts. At the returning to his palace, the emperor described his impression to Hisanori Fujita, his Grand Chamberlains, compared with Great Kanto earthquake in 1923 had seen in his Crown Prince age:After the war, two stone monuments to commemorate the visit were built in precincts.

  • Traditional Japanese shrine. You can see a very big and golden "Mikoshi", a portable shrine. And, on 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Sunday, there is a flea market event in the shrine. You can get traditional Japanese goods, kitchenware, Kimono and so on.
  • Whether the price of the horrible incident will affect?
  • Good place!!
  • Akasaka-Mitsuke Station on the Tokyo Metro Tozai line, Toei Subway o-Edo line than a 3-minute walk. It was founded in 1627. The region is known as the "Fukagawa Hachiman customers". Even better to visit the most, was a quiet and dignified space. Two Ozeki wrestlers monument and statue of INO Tadataka, portable sheds his head shrines in Japan's biggest and luxury masterpiece! Spectacular. Precincts is in beautiful condition. In the sacred tree of the Ginkgo tree are the main back two close up but not seen. I also notice that lot number and 7 passed shrine, was a center of faith since ancient times. Shenzhen shichifukujin Ebisu God enshrined. Also in Tokyo ten, one of the tour; Whats the stamp.

  • From the people of the town is known since ancient times Hachiman! I went to the family. To conceive or lonely visitors or beam in that topic to the. Somehow the onlooker wooly and. I don't know its predecessor or previous owner of the statue and history was written. I guess was a personality with a very respectable career. Shrines and temples are hereditary, it's is how does? And in the world Barre gotten not better from. In money-making so much less than taxes, in Ginza in dissipation galore, neat he, finally it's murder!-. It should become a priest personality appropriate. Also divided management and the chief priest, guess I should put the audit. This is where I hope from this operation. Behind the mansion were blindfolded in a white sheet. It will take dozens of years to gain the trust of the people in downtown. Sorry
