  • The most interesting part is that visitors are allowed to draw from cocoons and operate on an old sewing machine. The staff are happy to assist and explain in simple English.  more »

  • Be amazed with and how that elegant silk cloth came from. Feel and be a part the history how the silk travel to Europe way back ago!
  • It is an interesting place. You can get to know almost everything about silk (even see all those silkworms). Beauliful kimonos are on the second floor. There's a nice shop with silk things and illustrated books about Japanese clothes. I bought one and got a lovely sweet gift=)
  • Great
  • That is the starting point to overseas Silk Road from okaya Silk Museum, have been brought on line to the Chuo line, Yokohama line, the original red brick. Already, rather than a museum exhibition in silk kimono exhibit anticlimactic. It may be fun to check the location of hikawa Maru-silk [silk loom". The Tomioka silk mill is in okaya equipment. Is the root here is closer to the original, but had no land in okaya city for the Tomioka silk mill.

  • For sericulture corner on the first floor, and technology and product extensively exhibited. May be suitable for people too detailed, not interested. Upstairs silk history corner is able to follow the history of Japan's in authentic costume, very impressive. National costumes of different countries will showcase real, were masterpieces of the kimono. Not obsolete made it passed more than 50 years, the exhibition is people who want to learn about silk I think is worthy to come.
