Yokohama Museum of Art, Yokohama

4.1
#4 of 37 in Museums in Yokohama
Admire a range of modern international and Japanese masterpieces at Yokohama Museum of Art. The building's exterior features distinct symmetrical stonework, culminating in a 20 m (65 ft) high entrance hall covered in granite. Seven other minimalistically designed galleries exhibit modern and contemporary art from the late 19th century onwards. See works of Cezanne, Magritte, and Picasso along with Japanese works dating from the end of the Edo through the Meiji period. The museum frequently organizes special exhibits, and its media center has numerous books and art-related documents. Refresh in the cafe and pick out souvenirs in the gift shop, featuring pieces inspired by art from the museum. Yokohama Museum of Art is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Yokohama Edition.

  • Not sure how this museum actually works. When I visited at end-October 2017, they were holding an exhibition which charged an entry fee. That seemed to be the only accessible exhibition as I was unabl...  more »
  • As a citizen is a proud institution. Fountain Square also relaxed viewing exhibits that, while good, I had a small child body whole excites a playful feel art is recommended, at the adult person. Decorated now that works, 20 years later, and once joined the children in children's art classes. Toy Museum Shop is named after, not only in art but also in Yokohama. See shelf does not stand out of the hotel. The portions in special exhibition tickets, food and beverage outlets in the city get discounts on various types of campaign leaflets. Around the pleasant Minato Mirai of will get bored and not even smiling, so landmarks at the crowd, I digress here.

  • The exhibition was nice and space was fine. Wondering if the roof of main lobby a temporary structure or a n original design?
  • Beautiful Contemporary Art Museum designed by the famous Japanese Architect Kenzo Tange
  • Amazing building and great architecture. But that's pretty much it. Wasn't worth $15 in my opinion. Maybe I don't appreciate art as much as I should?
  • The Kishin Shinoyama exhibit was excellent. Permanent collection a bit meh, building itself is kind of interesting but not especially remarkable
  • The building is stunning, but the collection of photography is poorly curated, the prints are bellow average quality and very poorly lit, huge disappointment
