Yokohama Museum of Art, Yokohama
(4.2/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web)
Admire a range of modern international and Japanese masterpieces at Yokohama Museum of Art. The building's exterior features distinct symmetrical stonework, culminating in a 20 m (65 ft) high entrance hall covered in granite. Seven other minimalistically designed galleries exhibit modern and contemporary art from the late 19th century onwards. See works of Cezanne, Magritte, and Picasso along with Japanese works dating from the end of the Edo through the Meiji period. The museum frequently organizes special exhibits, and its media center has numerous books and art-related documents. Refresh in the cafe and pick out souvenirs in the gift shop, featuring pieces inspired by art from the museum. • Check HP every time a wonderful exhibitions are held in the Museum so we recommend that you want. There is also a hidden spot where not admission after admission and Museum reception a delicious lunches and snacks to eat in the Museum shop and Café are also available, so calmly, slowly.

  • No photos allowed but a nice little cafe and gift shop. Exhibition space was immense but with very few actual exhibition artefacts. We were a bit disappointed given the entrance fee was 500 Yen per ad...  more »
  • Visit on a weekend afternoon. A number of paintings from the Edo to Yokohama as much on display. Also include Pablo Picasso prints and kaii Higashiyama's paintings. And watch as the number of people in one room, and relax watching the picture was fine. Museum shop also sense is fun just watching was a toy.

  • Amazing building and great architecture. But that's pretty much it. Wasn't worth $15 in my opinion. Maybe I don't appreciate art as much as I should?
  • My favorite museum! They often have great exhibitions and events.
  • Loved it. Great contemporary and modern art. With a great mixture of European greats and Japanese. Highly recommend the place. Really liked the building, layout and a book which described some of the permanent collection.
  • Exhibition and permanent exhibitions are always looking forward to the visit, but always something a bit different feel. Less than museums and exhibitions of the good rate. Yokohama Museum of art is bad, not that it is just a matter of his own feelings.

  • Very clean neighborhood, worth a visit. Huge shopping malls. Gateways to the interesting design and a potential for great photos at night, but the day is already very beautiful.
