Yamashita Park, Yokohama

Categories: Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.2/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web
A peaceful public space, Yamashita Park faces Yokohama's waterfront. After the 1923 earthquake that left much of Yokohama in ruin, the city government recycled the rubble from the disaster to build this park, first opened in 1930. The space now contains a 1929 Japanese ocean liner converted into a ship museum, as well as assorted notable sculptures, including a Girl Scout statue marking the 50th anniversary of the popular youth organization. Bring a picnic and spread out on the park's grassy, landscaped lawns. Add Yamashita Park and other attractions to your Yokohama trip itinerary using our Yokohama itinerary builder.

  • There has been several times, Chinatown and the original was not only out of town, so Park but some did not. I started from the beginning I walked to the edge. "Image of a girl wearing red shoes" also saw the beginning. So nice unfortunately the weather was bad, so was not that the previous summer when sea breeze was pleasant. Change the color of the sea, so the weather is important.

  • Minato Mirai's is the perfect place to see at night. The last day of the three-day weekend was relatively free. 18:00 too dark, so without trembling in the cold this time of year, it is good.

  • A tranquil seaside Park with access to some shops and local attractions such as boat or boat trips around the Bay. Have a good view of the Bay and some garden areas beyond the lawns allowed visitors. Some history and monuments there dispersed.

  • Nice park by the sea, more for a walk than for a rest. Some artist have street performance there. There is a central fountain and flowers areas. Quite popular and often crowded, but not with the oppression feeling that can exist in Tokyo city.
