Nogeyama Zoo, Yokohama

(4.2/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Meet the red panda at Nogeyama Zoo, the oldest zoo in Yokohama. The most popular attraction here is the petting area, where mice, guinea pigs, snakes, and fantail pigeons can be observed from up close, fed, and touched. A short stroll through this leafy environment uncovers some of the 100 different species that call the zoo their home, including primates, giraffes, bears, and everyone's favorite, the red panda. The zoo was only the second in the world to breed the Andean condor in captivity, and you can still see this majestic creature at the zoo's aviaries. • I stopped by during a business trip. I think it was free admission at the Zoo on the Hill. Feeding watering time keeper provides commentary. It's especially cute Panda.

  • Free Zoo! Quite large so you can enjoy! I thought that the elephant is not lonely?. Had to stop at the nearby parking lot on weekends

  • On days off, in many families, still crowded and rather enjoyed leisurely. Walk from the train station, but is recommended as a way to spend the holidays.

  • FREE zoo with approximately 1200 animals of about 100 species. Opened in 1951 it was the first zoo in Japan to enjoy success of housing a number of foreign species including panthers, sloth bears and lemurs. Currently, there are no panthers but they do have big "cats" - a lion and a tiger. There aren't any sloth bears at the moment either, but they have other types of bears. The kids enjoyed being so close to the animals and being able to see them up close and personal. They have a great petting area where kids can meet, touch and hold small animals such as mice, guinea pigs and snakes.
  • This is a nice treat if you visit Yokohama. The zoo is free and it is layed out really good. When entering you can pickup a map of the zoo to plan your route so you see what you would like too. Their penguin part is really good.
  • Free of charge, a lot of different animals. I don't like the small space space the animals have here. But at least a good opportunity for a visit with mainly younger kids.
  • For a free zoo, this was surprisingly good value. Great for both kids and adults.
  • Great for being free. Well worth a visit
