Cape Noshappu, Wakkanai

3.5
Enjoy delicious seafood and the attractive seascape at Cape Noshappu, with views of the islands of Rishiri and Rebun. As you walk along the coastline, keep your eyes out for spotted seals dozing on the coast. You can delve further into the marine life at the nearby aquarium, which hosts seals and many other animals from ocean's depths. Stop in one of the eateries for the chance to try fresh octopus, squid, flounder, and Hokkaido's most famous sea urchin bowl. Note that sunsets are particularly dramatic here, with ribbons of vibrant color stretched across the horizon. This is the place where u can view beautiful sunset of Japan. Nearby the tip, u can see the 2 offshore islands. Very cold and windy. U can jump in bus 3 right in front of the JR station. Take about 10 mins to reach.

Here is not a famous place. However, we could see a panorama view within Rishiri island and Rebun island. Easy to go there from central Wakkanai by bus.

    風景不錯,天氣好的時候可以看到離島。這個不是日本最北的宗谷岬。

Bad weather in early summer of shame. Because low temperatures, windy and cold in winter as well as mainland. Feeling no helpful experience.

Where to stay in Wakkanai

Wakkanai has a good mix of accommodations, primarily located close to the two main train stations. Look out for side-street hostels providing particularly budget-friendly options, along with upmarket hotels close to the shops and restaurants of the newly developed port areas. Many visitors choose instead to stay on the islands of Rebun and Rishiri, with the two flower-covered landmasses chief among the regional highlights and possessing a good range of lodgings, including traditional ryokans with onsite onsens.
