Mimurotoji Temple, Uji
Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Also known as the "flower temple," Mimurotoji Temple prides itself on its vast, lush garden. Built on multiple tiers, the surrounding land blooms with hydrangeas, lotuses, and azaleas--and, in spring, weightless clouds of cherry blossoms. The graceful wooden temple dates back to the 19th century, constructed in the historical Edo style. Relax with a walk up the stone stairs that lead to the top of the complex, where you can admire it all from above. Bear in mind that you cannot bring food or drinks onto the temple grounds.
