A hub of cultural attractions, Ueno Park originally served as the gardens of the Kaneiji Temple during the Edo period. In 1873 it opened to the public as one of the first Western-style parks. An island temple to the goddess of fortune and beauty floats in its pond, while the national museum and art museum stand as bastions of Japan's rich heritage. Rest up between cultural sightseeing, stop by the zoo, or visit the market under the elevated train line. In the spring, join the flocks of visitors enjoying the over 800 blossoming cherry trees. As you enter Ueno Park, you'll stumble across a striking statue of a man and his dog, immortalized in bronze. This statue is of the legendary samurai Saigo Takamori, one of the most influential samurai in all of Japan. A man often dubbed as the 'last true samurai', the statue is an iconic Ueno landmark. Great place to relaxing and near by park has many food corner. The park has the feature with walking ample, lake with boats zoo and several mesuem.

Beautiful park with so many attractions to explore! The gardens here are beautiful any time of the year and it's just so peaceful and serene as you're walking through the temples. There's a museum and other things to do here as well, and is a wonderful and relaxing way to spend a day. Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be different.

Relaxing ambience. The water fountain near the museums is the best place to spend the evening.

Great place to relax and spend the afternoon walking around the park. Scenery is great as the trees provide good shade from the sun if needed. The trail is usually quite busy as a lot of people walk through it to get to the other side, but still a nice place to pass the time.
