Castle Historic Walking Area
Head up to Uedajo Castle, a historic fort known for its impressively designed defenses.

Built in the second half of the 16th century as the home of the Sanada clan, the castle twice repelled attacks from the Tokugawa clan before the century was out. The second time around, only 2,500 warriors reportedly defended the stronghold against a force of 38,000. Admire the citadel's clever architectural design, with its deep moat and imposing stone base. While not much of the castle still stands, the site's history and surrounding scenery makes it well worth the visit.
