Toyota Kaikan Plant, Toyota

4.5
Those who have an interest in all things automotive might want to check out Toyota Kaikan Plant. Tracing the history of the automobile and its manufacturing process, the site also displays many examples of the most recent and modern cars, as well as concepts for the future. Inspect cutaways of full-size cars to see the internal structures and workings at play, and observe the company's famous robot performing classics on the violin. The facility also offers a chance to tour the vehicle production line, where you'll view the robotic manufacturing process right up to the finished product. You can take tours between Monday and Friday, but keep in mind that you'll need to register by 10:30 am on the day, with tours starting at 11 am. Advance booking is required by Internet or phone. Saturday and holidays are mostly closed. Children aged 16 or over can test drive, is a car lover fun. Unfortunately, Yes, but we've also can test fuel cell vehicles. However, most Toyota vehicles could ride.

The Toyota museum and plant tour are worth visiting if you happen to be in Nagoya like me. The museum has exhibition of cars and interactive stands that explain the latest automotive technologies and manufacturing processes in Toyota.

For a free museum it sure has a lot of great info and demos! Take time to make reservations for the free plant tour, it's a must-do!

this is a brief stop before the much-anticipated Toyota plant tour. we were greeted by an English-speaking staff. we went around the museum dedicated only to Toyota and Lexus vehicles. it was also nice to see their development of hybrid vehicles. the toilet is very "Japanese" clean and, to my surprise, the washbasin even sports a mouthwash foam spray.

Would recommend this to anyone with JR pass with easy access via the train. For car enthusiasts it's a great insite into Toyota.

Where to stay in Toyota

Given the reasonable selection of hotels, you should focus on location when selecting where to stay in Toyota. The majority of all the city's accommodations surround the streets neighboring the central Toyotashi train station, offering predominantly mid-range, Western-style chain hotels. These put you within walking distance of the city center, with plenty of things to do in the area; however, you'll want to stay farther south for the quickest access to most of the area's major museums.
